Do you have a waitlist?

No. Morgan Therapeutics is a new practice and we are accepting new families now. In the Dayton–Cincinnati corridor families are commonly quoted 6 to 18 months for ABA, so this is the single biggest difference between us and a larger established provider right now.

Does my child need an autism diagnosis before starting?

Accepted Answer

For insurance-funded ABA, yes — insurers require a documented diagnosis from a qualified evaluator. The Ohio Autism Scholarship also requires a diagnosis plus a current IEP. Private pay is possible without one, but we'd usually talk with you about pursuing an evaluation first.

We don't have a diagnosis yet — where do we even go?

Call us anyway. We can point you toward evaluation resources in the Dayton and Cincinnati area, including children's hospital developmental clinics and the county boards of developmental disabilities in Warren and Montgomery Counties. Get on those lists early; the evaluation wait is often longer than the therapy wait.

How long does it take to actually start?

A consultation call within two business days, funding verified in about three to five days, an assessment in one or two sessions, and then authorization, which typically takes one to three weeks. Most families go from first call to first session in roughly four to eight weeks, with insurance authorization being the main variable.

What communities do you serve?

Springboro, Franklin, Carlisle, Clearcreek Township, Turtlecreek Township, Miami Township, Centerville, Miamisburg, West Carrollton, Waynesville, Lebanon, Mason, Middletown, Kettering, Moraine, Monroe, and south Dayton — roughly a 25-mile radius from Springboro across Warren and Montgomery Counties. If you're just outside that, ask.

What are your hours? Do you have after-school availability?

Our office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 6:00pm. Session times include daytime hours for younger children not yet in school, and a limited number of after-school slots. After-school availability is the scarcest thing in ABA everywhere, and we'll be straight with you about what we have.

What is ABA therapy, in plain English?

ABA is the practice of understanding why a behavior is happening and then changing the environment and the teaching so your child can meet that same need in a way that works better for them. In practice it looks like teaching communication, play, daily living skills, and safety — mostly inside ordinary routines.

Isn't ABA controversial?

Yes, and the criticism deserves a real answer rather than a defensive one. Much of it comes from autistic adults describing older practices: forced compliance, aversives, goals aimed at making a child look non-autistic. We don't do any of those things. Read our approach page, which lays out exactly what we do and don't do, and ask any provider you're considering the same questions.

Will my child be doing drills at a table?

Mostly no. Our teaching is naturalistic — it happens inside play and daily routines. Some children benefit from short structured blocks on a specific skill, and when that's true we keep them brief, reinforce heavily, and go back to play.

Question 10

What happens if my child says no or refuses a task?

We honor it. Assent means your child's ongoing yes, and we read it moment to moment. If your child pushes materials away or turns from the technician, we back off, adjust what's on offer, and rebuild rapport before asking again. We never hold a child in place or wait out a child in distress to win.

Will you try to stop my child from stimming?

No, not unless it causes injury or actively blocks something your child wants to do. Stimming is regulating. Goals like 'quiet hands' are not part of our programming.

How long does ABA therapy last?

It varies widely by child and goals. Focused programs addressing one or two concerns may run months. Comprehensive early programming often runs a few years with hours decreasing over time. We plan for fading support from the beginning — the goal is for your family to need less of us.

How will I know it's working?

Every session generates data, and we review it with you monthly in plain language, including the flat graphs. You should also be able to see it at home: an easier bedtime, a request instead of a meltdown, shoes on without a battle.

No, and be cautious of anyone who does. We commit to honest assessment, a plan built for your child, real supervision, and telling you clearly when something isn't working so we can change it.

What insurance do you accept, and what will it cost me?

We work with [PAYER_LIST]. Your cost depends on your deductible, copay or coinsurance, and whether we're in network with your plan. We verify your benefits before therapy begins and give you your expected out-of-pocket cost in writing, so nothing arrives as a surprise.

What is the Ohio Autism Scholarship, and does my child qualify?

It's state funding administered through the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce that pays for autism services from state-registered private providers. What's the Jon Peterson Scholarship, and how is it different?

What if we're out of network?

Accepted Answer

Ask us about a single-case agreement. When your plan has no in-network ABA provider with real availability, the insurer can sometimes be persuaded to cover us at in-network rates for your child. It isn't guaranteed, but we'll make the request and handle the follow-up.

Can we pay privately?

Yes. Rates are provided in writing before services begin, and there's no minimum-hours contract.

Will you help with the insurance paperwork?

That's a core part of what the non-clinical side of this practice exists to do. We verify benefits, submit the authorization, and make the follow-up calls so you aren't spending your lunch break on hold.

How many hours per week will my child need, and who decides?

The clinical director decides, based on the assessment and your child's needs — never a revenue target. Comprehensive programming generally means more hours across more skill areas; focused programming means fewer. Hours are re-evaluated at every reauthorization and can go down as your child progresses.

Who actually makes the clinical decisions about my child's program?

Erin, our Clinical Director and a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, holds full clinical authority — assessment, treatment plan, hours, supervision, and discharge. Brittany Morgan, our Founder and Executive Director, is not a clinician and makes no clinical decisions. That separation is deliberate.

Question 23

What's the difference between a BCBA and an RBT?

A BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst) holds a graduate degree and certification, and is responsible for assessment, writing the treatment plan, and supervising the program. An RBT (Registered Behavior Technician) completes a 40-hour training and a competency assessment and delivers the day-to-day sessions under that supervision.

Do I have to be home during sessions?

For in-home services, a caregiver needs to be in the home. That's both a safety practice and the reason caregiver coaching works — you don't have to sit in the room the whole time, but you should be reachable and available for the handoff at the end.

Will you work on toileting, sleep, mealtimes, or getting out the door?

Yes. Those routines are exactly why in-home therapy exists. They're hard to address in a clinic room and they're often what changes a family's daily life the most.

Can you come to my child's daycare or preschool?

Often yes, with the program's cooperation and your written consent. We also provide consultation to daycare and preschool staff so strategies stay consistent when we're not there.

Do you coordinate with my child's speech therapist or OT?

Yes, with your written consent. Goals across providers shouldn't contradict each other, and you should never be the one carrying messages between clinicians.

What if we don't click with our technician?

Tell us. It's a normal thing to say and it will not offend anyone. Fit matters, and we'd much rather change the assignment than have your child work with someone they don't warm to.

Do you offer telehealth?

For caregiver training and some consultation, yes — it's often easier to fit into an evening. Direct therapy with young children is delivered in person.

Is my information private?

Yes. We're HIPAA compliant, our staff are HIPAA trained, and we don't share information about your child without your written consent. Please don't include medical or diagnostic details in our website forms — those aren't a secure channel, and we'll collect that information properly once we connect.

What if my child also has an IEP?

That's common, and it matters for funding as well as for care. An IEP is required for the Autism Scholarship, and with your consent we'll coordinate goals with the school team and attend IEP meetings when it helps.

How do I become an RBT with no experience?

Four steps: a 40-hour training course, an in-person competency assessment with a qualified supervisor, the certification exam, and a background check. Teachers, paraprofessionals, psychology graduates, and career-changers do this all the time. Apply through our careers page and say you're new — we'll walk you through it.

What's supervision like for RBTs here?

The clinical director supervises every case directly, and supervision is scheduled rather than squeezed in. A small caseload is what makes that possible, which is a large part of why we intend to stay small.
