Getting started

From first call to first session, step by step.

No mystery, no black box. Here's exactly what happens, roughly how long each part takes, and what we need from you.

  1. Reach out

    Day 1

What we do: We answer, or we call you back the same business day.

What you do: Have handy: your child's age, whether you have a diagnosis, and how you plan to pay — insurance carrier, Autism Scholarship, or private pay.

  2. Consultation call

    Within 2 business days

What we do: 15–20 minutes with someone who can actually answer your questions, not a scheduler reading a script.

What you do: Tell us what's going on and what you most want to change. Ask us anything, including whether we're the right fit.

  3. Funding verified

    3–5 days

What we do: We verify your insurance benefits or review scholarship eligibility, and we tell you your expected cost before anything starts.

What you do: Send us a photo of your insurance card or your scholarship documentation.

  4. Documents

    Alongside verification

What we do: We tell you exactly which documents your plan requires and chase down what we can ourselves.

What you do: Diagnostic evaluation, referral or prescription if your plan requires one, insurance card or scholarship documentation, and signed consents.

  5. Assessment

    1–2 sessions

What we do: The BCBA comes to your home, observes your child, interviews you, and writes an individualized treatment plan.

What you do: Be yourself and let your house be normal. We're there to see real life, not a performance.

  6. Authorization

    1–3 weeks

What we do: The plan goes to your insurer or the scholarship program. We handle the paperwork and the follow-up calls.

What you do: Nothing, mostly. We'll update you rather than leaving you to wonder.

  7. Therapy begins

    After approval

What we do: Schedule set, team introduced, first goals reviewed with you together.

What you do: Meet your technician, ask questions, and tell us what you want to work on first.

Do I need a diagnosis first?

For insurance-funded ABA, yes — insurers require a documented autism diagnosis from a qualified evaluator. The Ohio Autism Scholarship also requires a diagnosis plus a current IEP.

If you don't have one yet, call us anyway. We can point you toward evaluation resources in the Dayton and Cincinnati area, including children's hospital developmental clinics and the county boards of developmental disabilities in Warren and Montgomery Counties.

Be prepared for this to be the slow part. The wait for a diagnostic evaluation is often longer than the wait for therapy, so it's worth getting on those lists early — even while you're still deciding what you want to do.

Let's start with a conversation.

Fifteen minutes, no obligation. Tell us what's going on, and we'll tell you honestly whether we're the right fit — and what to do next if we aren't.
